The data centre skills shortage is an ongoing challenge which poses a significant threat to the longevity of this crucial industry and the wider digital economy. The lack of skills in this field is caused by numerous factors such as the increased number of facilities popping up all over the world as digitalisation enhances developmental pressures, combined with the driving force of AI which is only set to continue.
Over the past six years, I’ve become increasingly aware of how critical these facilities are to everyday life which has fuelled my passion in wanting to provide a platform for leading experts to discuss how they’re working to close the talent gap. I’m keen to understand how we can try to resolve the issue and help to bridge the gap.
I’m also interested in hearing how invested data centre experts are in their efforts to attract more women and young people into an industry which offers so much – an abundance of roles to suit everyone that’s interested in being a part of determining our digital future.
However, it’s not just about attracting people – we must also focus on how we retain them. At Lynchpin Media, we’re committed to doing all we can to help drive meaningful change for this industry. That’s why, on June 24th, we’ll be hosting an exclusive and intimate roundtable discussion to address the issue at hand.
Some of the UK’s leading experts will come together to explore how the industry can better market itself, implement diversity and inclusion policies to encourage new talent and bring about lasting, impactful change – key to securing the future of this Critical National Infrastructure.
This high-level discussion will highlight the urgent need for data centre companies to take decisive action – and to seriously consider the consequences of failing to address the problem.
The conversation will deep dive into the role of AI and its impact on jobs within the sector. We’ll explore how the tool could potentially limit job opportunities, but also how it can serve to reshape workforce requirements, ease the skills shortage and influence digital development.
By bringing together industry leaders and encouraging innovative and fruitful conversations, we aim to uncover actionable solutions to ensure a thriving, sustainable future for data centres and those helping to power them.
Once the roundtable discussion has ended, we’ll open the doors to the wider industry to come and network. This gives our roundtable speakers the chance to continue their conversations, build new relationships and chat with others who are passionate about keeping the industry alive. If you would like to join the discussion and/or be a part of our networking evening, please don’t hesitate to reach out for more information: [email protected]
